I’m ready for my closeup May 12, 2008
We live in a neighborhood with all boys and one budding movie director. Jack is 12 and has just completed his 4th movie. He has chosen only the best actors to appear in his films and carefully selected the film locations. His latest film Halo 2 was released May 9th and was celebrated with a huge cast party and a sleepover in a tent in the backyard.
He really blew the budget on this one by creating nearly 10 Lego models of space ships and one halo ring (see floating ring in photo). He kept the prop guys busy making alien creatures out of blankets, rounding up every water gun in the neighborhood and creating props such as the huge model of earth that can be seen from the alien king’s escape shuttle. An amazing feat. Jack scored his film with music from the great composer (whoever he is) that also scored the video game by the same name.
There are some expanded features on the film DVD such as the film trailer and blooper reel. This reviewer gives Halo 2 by Jello films a big thumbs up. Run don’t walk to get your copy of this amazing film.
( Monkey Boy is being blasted by a laser gun. #1 son is hunting aliens in the lower right corner.)
This is just adorable. I love how excited and creative kids can be when they’re really into something - like not just playing but making a FILM of it! Such fun. Enjoy them, Beth, they grow up too fast… and make copies of their films so you can show them to their kids one day!

Beth, this is the cutest story.
When I was a kid, there was a boy in the neighborhood who put on his own plays. (This was before video cams became common.) The neighbors would all gather in the backyard to watch the plays and it was a lot of fun. Glad your boys are able to join in the fun.

These movies are a crack-up! Can’t wait for “Heavily Armed Hillbilly 3″.
Didn’t Stephen Spielberg start out this way? You can say that you “knew him when.”
Debbie-
The movies are fun. You can see where he is emulating other movies he’s seen. The bloopers are the best because it captures their laughter which is the most precious sound to me.
Linda-
We used to do that! We even performed a musical. It was so much fun!
Sarah-
HAH3 should be out within the next month. It’s great to see how much more advanced the special effects, dialog, action and musical score has become since the very first movie they did called ‘Heavily Armed Hillbilly’.
Rhonda-
I wouldn’t be surprised if Jack went on to be another Spielberg. He’s really into making these movies and they get more and more complex so you can see how his skills have evolved. And you’re right, I can say ‘I knew him when’.
