I want what I haven’t got May 13, 2008
Friday is my birthday and it got me to thinking about what I’ve got and what I want. For the most part my life is everything I have ever wanted. I have a great husband, 2 terrific kids, we live in a nice house close to family and we have everything we need.
But there are still a few things that I haven’t got that I want. Some of them make no sense, some of them make perfect sense. Here’s my list.
1. I want long, thick, flowing hair like the women on the covers of romance novels.
2. I want the body I had at 20 to go along with my 40 year old mind and face (cause it still looks pretty good).
3. I want my drink at the coffee house to be made perfectly for me each and every time.
4. I want my kids to do what I tell them, the first time I tell then without any fuss, eye rolling or back-talking.
5. I want to be able to play and read music.
6. I want a car that never runs out of gas.
7. I want my finger and toe nails to stop growing at the perfect length.
8. I want body hair that stays shaved off, plucked out and waxed.
9. I want shoes that don’t pinch, hurt or make me want to chop my feet off.
10. I want a house that stays clean forever.
11. I want dinner to cook itself.
12. I want to be able to walk out the door and know that this day will be the best day ever. Every day.
13. I want weather that changes according to my mood.
14. I want nothing but green lights and no traffic.
15. I want people to stop hurting each other.
16. I want people to accept each other for who and what they are.
17. I want children to laugh and never cry.
18. I want computers to psychically know what I want them to do.
19. I want the world to be fair.
20. I want my children to have long and happy lives.
What do you want?
**post a comment on my blog from now until May 16th (my bday) and be entered to win an assortment of books from my library. 2 chances to win. (I have alot of books!)
Wow, Beth, that’s quite a list. I’m with you from 15-19, and I’d love to find great shoes that don’t hurt my feet. FWIW, it’s never too late to learn to read and play music.
Happy Birthday! Hope you have a wonderful day.
Linda, who doesn’t need any more books
Linda-
I took piano lessons for 2 years and violin for 1 and still couldn’t read music. Apparently I had my mom and the teacher fooled until I finally confessed. She cancelled my lessons after that. I guess it’s one of those things that my brain just can’t do.
Good list. I want hair like the women in the Pantene commercials–so impossibly long, thick, and shiny! I also want there to be no hunger and no war, and for every child to outlive his/her parent.
BTW, the link to operation smile is broken. I think you’re missing the colon. Just FYI.
Thanks Sarah!
I know I’m way late, but I see that there’s still time to wish you a Happy Birthday. But please don’t send me any books, even if I’m not too late for the contest. I wasn’t this far behind in my reading in college!
I would like shoes that don’t hurt but look cute. My body when I was 30. To be able to ride horses again (someday.)
Here’s one:
A publishing contract for seven figures to produce three books at whatever schedule I choose. Whee!!!
Oh Rhonda! I wish I would have thought of that!
