Reunited July 17, 2008

Well the family reunion is on track.

I’m getting really excited about seeing cousins, aunts, uncles and 2nd, 3rd and once removed relations. There has been some stirings about who should be invited and who should not because of the feuds, divorces and what not. But I decided that I would rather invite everyone and give them the choice of whether or not to attend than risk hurting someone because they weren’t invited at all.

The other night I spent an hour on the phone long distance with my cousin’s wife trying to convince her that the wacked out family members she has met are not a good example of the rest of our family. By the time I hung up with her, I had to convince myself since I have had to harangue various relatives for more than a week to give over phone #’s & email addresses. And now I’m sure of it, we’re not normal. Normal people would have more than just one old telephone number for their brother and would have some idea of what state their sister resides in. It’s a shame how we’ve let each other scatter to the corners of the country and not kept in better contact. Our little committee has decided that we will put together a phone book with everyone’s information for all of us to take away from the event so that this won’t ever happen again.

In this day and age when you can contact anyone any where it’s inexcusable that we have kept so much to ourselves. Do you keep up with your relatives? Or are there some you wish would loose your phone number?
